Restarting Recruitment

We are restarting our non-COVID work from 7 September

We are delighted to announce that from 7 September, in addition to recruiting to Coronavirus studies, we are now restarting non-COVID work. This follows our temporary closure of all other projects in March.

Over the next few weeks, recruitment will restart for Rare Diseases, NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease) and Mental Health, as well as IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), IMID (Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases) and our collaboration with NHSBT (National Health Service Blood and Transplant) to enroll blood donors.

Not all recruiting sites will be opened straight away, especially as a lot of clinics are now held virtually, but we are working with our researchers to come up with innovative and flexible options for recruitment to assist them with their research.

In addition we are in conversation with researchers to recommence our support to experimental medicine studies and clinical trials.

Dr Nathalie Kingston, NIHR BioResource Director, said

‘The pandemic has touched all parts of our country and of the world. Our staff have done an amazing job in tackling COVID-19 — and continue to do so. I’m delighted we are now able to support other research.  The NIHR BioResource is an essential part of research into the causes and treatment of many diseases, working with many dedicated partners. We will hit the ground running to bring in new participants and to support research."

Recruitment will be taking place nationally.  If you have any questions about taking part or need help, please contact us on nbr@bioresource.nihr.ac.uk
